Reingold Tapped to Create Nationwide Suicide Prevention Campaign
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has hired Reingold to develop a first-ever nationwide communications and outreach strategy to promote VA's suicide prevention resources and services. Together with a top-notch team of specialists in Veterans' issues, Reingold is creating and executing an integrated plan to engage key partners and—most important—encourage and motivate at-risk Veterans to call on VA for support.
"In addition to raising awareness about VA's suicide prevention program, we aim to build trust that empowers Veterans to make that critical call for help—well before they are considering taking their own lives," said Joseph Ney, a Reingold principal and creative director. Reingold's team includes Chick Ciccolella, a former assistant secretary for the Veterans Employment and Training Service at the U.S. Department of Labor, who brings deep experience in helping wounded and injured Veterans transition to civilian life, as well as Adam Clampitt, principal of The District Communications Group and a Navy reservist and public affairs officer who completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan last year.
Reingold's carefully researched strategic communications plan will define and segment VA's target audiences—creating the right messaging to educate, engage, and mobilize not only Veterans themselves, but also their families, friends, and service providers. Through partnerships, social media, website enhancements, and public service advertising, we will strive to see that no Veteran faces overwhelming mental health challenges alone.
