The Nation's Report Card Makes the Grade

The U.S. Department of Education's National Assessment Governing Board has tapped Reingold to help promote the findings of The Nation's Report Card—the only nationally representative, continuing assessment of student achievement in the United States. On March 24, we helped lead the release of the 2009 Reading Report Card in a multimedia effort that achieved an estimated 25 million media impressions.

Reingold developed and delivered communications materials tailored to target audiences, using innovative outreach strategies that leverage the Governing Board's website and the influence of advocates and champions. After working with the Board to develop key messages based on the Report Card data, we produced media briefing packets—including the press release, talking points, and easy-to-read highlights of the 69-page Report Card results document and the 79-page Reading Framework.

Our team's work paid off, with more than 500 articles and online postings, plus print articles in more than 100 print publications including USA Today, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, and Education Week. A total of 44 broadcasts included pieces on NBC TV and NPR, and our social marketing campaign generated 249 blog posts and 59 "Tweets."
