D.C. Department of Employment Services/Project Empowerment

Client
The D.C. Department of Employment Services created Project Empowerment to help move citizens from welfare to work by providing them with social services, educational support, and temporary jobs subsidized by the government while preparing them for regular employment.

Challenge
Beyond a great idea and innovative approach, Project Empowerment needed the messages and materials to rapidly enlist both prospective employers and job seekers, many of them long-term recipients of public assistance.

Enter Reingold

Reingold developed print and electronic collateral materials to generate awareness of Project Empowerment among the key audiences of employee participants and local employers. We created a new brand identity and logo for the program, and then crafted a user's guide, brochures, and fact sheets tailored to each audience. We also wrote and produced a five-minute orientation video and a series of public service announcements featuring motivational speaker Iyanla Vanzant.

Results
Reingold helped Project Empowerment achieve a successful launch, attracting 1,700 participants and 50 employer partners in its first year.
