District Department of Transportation
Client
The District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) works to see that people, goods, and information move efficiently and safely through the city with minimal adverse impact on residents and the environment.
Challenge
With its recent rapid growth and revitalization, greater downtown Washington attracts thousands of new visitors as well as District residents and commuters every day. These travelers—many of them unfamiliar with the city—need easy access to information about their transportation options, particularly those that reduce car traffic.
Enter Reingold
Reingold began with DDOT's website, goDCgo.com, redesigning the site with appealing graphics and simplified navigation; expanding its interactive map and developing a map pedometer; and creating an email subscription feature. To increase the website's traffic, we employed keyword research and landing page optimization, online ads and paid search, optimized press releases, and search engine and directory submittals. Offline, Reingold developed radio, billboard, bus, and bus shelter advertisements and used promotional products to direct audiences to goDCgo.com, and marketed through DDOT's existing communications networks as well.
Results
Our efforts met with resounding success. In the six months after Reingold created goDCgo.com's entirely new interface and began marketing the site in March 2008, the average number visitors each day almost tripled.
