Communications Agency Reingold Launches New Capability With New Hire

Joshua Lamel named vice president of public policy, advocacy, and communications

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Reingold, a strategic communications firm dedicated to helping companies, nonprofits, and government agencies achieve social impact, has hired Joshua Lamel to expand its public policy and advocacy practice. For more than 30 years, Reingold has worked with a range of clients to raise awareness for countless social causes — such as promoting mental health, ending homelessness, addressing traumatic brain injury, preventing suicide, and more — leading to action that has saved lives.

Lamel comes to Reingold with more than 15 years of experience in the government affairs field. Before joining Reingold, Lamel served as vice president at BGR Group — a bipartisan lobbying and PR firm based in Washington, D.C. Previously, he was a vice president at the Computer and Communications Industry Association, head of the D.C. technology practice at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, and leader of government relations, communications, and policy at TechAmerica. He also worked on the Hill for Sen. Ron Wyden and Rep. Kendrick Meek.

“Josh is bringing a wealth of expertise from Capitol Hill, where he has a deep understanding of how to create public relations campaigns that spark change and shape policy solutions,” said Kevin Miller, partner and chief operating officer at Reingold. “At its core, Reingold is a digital agency. Hiring Josh was the right next step in continuing to meet our clients’ needs and fulfill their missions.”

Lamel is a well-known voice on Capitol Hill. He authored the first-ever legislation on preserving an open internet that set the foundation for the current net neutrality fight, and he helped shepherd through Congress’ reauthorization of the internet tax moratorium and protect against attacks on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Lamel currently serves as executive director of Re:Create, a coalition devoted to balanced copyright.

“There are different ways to influence people — direct influence, smart ideas, strong communication strategy, finding the right influencers — and I look forward to doing all of it at Reingold,” Lamel said. “I was drawn to this agency because of its public service mission and focus on client service.”

Lamel earned his law degree at the University of Michigan and is admitted to the practice of law by the New York State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar. He has a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University.
