Today, we spotlight Jared Daly, payroll director to the stars! #ReingoldSpark✨

Q: What is your SPARK? As in, what makes you happy, motivated, or excited? What makes you, you?

🏈: I enjoy spending time with my family and playing with my dogs. I enjoy football very much. I’m a huge Ravens fan. I try to keep life stress-free.

Q: Do you have any favorite or impactful memories from your time in the military?

🌎: We would go to some pretty cool places because of the Navy. I got to go to Spain, Italy, Sicily, Bahrain, Yemen, Oman, Jordan, and even Somalia for a little bit of time. When you’re on a ship in the Navy, it takes you all over the place. So those experiences were pretty neat. Getting to experience those other cultures and getting to go places that, for the most part, a lot of Americans don’t ever get to go was pretty cool.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

🦸‍♂️: I talk about this sometimes with my wife when we’re caught in traffic. I always want to have that metal moving ability like Magneto, just so I can move cars out of the way. I just really, really despise traffic and crowded places.

“The hardest part about getting out is the unknown,” Marine Corps veteran Cade Cooper remembers about leaving active duty.

Today, the new Virginia Veterans Network is helping veterans by providing one place for trusted resources and support.

On this Veterans Day, hear Cade’s story. And if you’re a veteran in the Commonwealth, visit vesa.dvs.virginia.gov to learn more. Reingold is proud to support the Virginia Department of Veterans Services in this work.

Meet Chris Koslowski, senior instructional design lead and author of Kayfabe! #ReingoldSpark✨

Q: What is your SPARK?
👪: Friends and family. I’ve been extremely lucky to have a great group of supportive, loving people in my life, and that extends to the Reingold family as well. Shoutout to all the folks here. I have a great, supportive network that fuels me and replenishes me and wants to see me succeed unconditionally. It can be challenging for me to give that back, so I’m especially thankful for it.

Q: What inspires you to write?
✍: I’ve always been a creator. When I was a kid, I would make little home movies. I would write little dumb short stories and do illustrations. Every so often, I’ll just get that spark where I have to create something. My medium is writing, so I’m always tinkering away at some little thing.

Q: What are some fun things you do to fight writer's block?
🥊: Once I’m in the writer’s seat, I get into a flow state, and it’s nice. But I have a lot of inertia to overcome. Especially when I was writing the book, I tried a lot of tricks. One was that I would only drink coffee when I was writing. Another was I would layer things together that are good for you. So, for instance, I would go to the gym; find a quiet, out-of-the-way corner to write for an hour or so; and then go work out. So, when I left the gym, I’m like, “OK, I wrote. I worked out. Today is a success.”

Q: If you could spend a day with anyone (real or fictional) who inspires your writing, who would it be and why?
💻: Hank Green of the brothers Hank and John Green. Hank is perhaps the lesser-known of the two, but he’s an author himself. Hank also has ulcerative colitis, which is a gastrointestinal autoimmune disease similar to the one that I have. Hank has figured out how to be an internet celebrity and use his powers for good. I admire that because I think, secretly, I want to be a YouTuber and always have, but I am very afraid of trying and failing — or even trying and succeeding because then people know who I am. Hank is always thinking about what he can do with his position to educate people and raise money for good causes.
