Optimizing a Website to Serve Military Families

Through its Military OneSource website, MC&FP connects military families with resources and support throughout their service and beyond. Reingold helped make this vast array of offerings findable and consumable through enhancements based on keyword research, analytics, and user feedback.

Challenge

The Military OneSource website offers resources spanning the military family's entire journey from deployment to retirement. But with thousands of densely populated pages, the site needed consolidated content and new navigation to guide users to the information they need the most.

Solution

Reingold used a content audit, web analytics, and keyword research to identify the information that military families seek. Then we conducted user testing, revealing that users could find MC&FP's offerings more quickly with a smaller number of clear content categories. Based on this research, we created a site map reorganizing the content and new page templates optimized to achieve conversions. 

Results

Testing showed that Reingold's content hierarchy allowed users to sort MC&FP's offerings more than twice as fast as the current one — and with greater consistency from person to person. The results allowed MC&FP to embark on site redesign driven by data and user feedback.
